  • How (and why) to Unplug Your Family

 

Author Sharael Kolberg shares her unique perspective of living a year without technology in an effort to educate parents on the benefits of minimizing the use of technology and focusing on reconnecting with family. She will provide research on why families should unplug and give tips on how to unplug.

 

  • Helping Kids Cope with the Pressure to Be Plugged In

 

Author Sharael Kolberg will share the experience of her family living a year without technology and educate parents and youth on how to stand up to the peer pressure to be constantly accessible through technology. She will discuss the body, mind, and soul benefits to minimizing the use of technology.

 

  • Media Literacy

 

Author Sharael Kolberg will use her experience of living a year without technology to help youth increase their ability to analyze and evaluate their exposure to various forms of media by using critical thinking skills, being aware of marketing, recognizing false advertising, how to safely participate in social media, and more.

 

  • Social Media & Social Skills

 

Author Sharael Kolberg will use her experience of living a year without technology to teach parents how to help their kids safely navigate social media and how to monitor their children's online activity. She will also inform parents on how to role model appropriate social skills in an effort to teach kids the benefits of connecting offline as well.
